A Georgia teacher was caught on camera writing a racial slur on the classroom whiteboard, leading to his immediate dismissal and widespread outrage.
The offensive incident took place at Walnut Grove High School in Loganville, where a staff member, identified as Robert Walker, scrawled out the the N-word as students clapped and cheered in the background.
In the video, Walker, an assistant wrestling coach at the North Georgia high school, wrote out the derogatory word with the final letter missing on the classroom whiteboard.
Then, a student off-camera could be heard shouting the final letter: ‘R! Arrrrr!’
Walker then turned his back to the camera and pens the final letter, completing the slur as students erupt into laughter and the video abruptly ends.
The 19-second clip was later posted online by several concerned parents and has since gone viral amassing more than 40,000 views, according to WSB-TV.
‘That should never be brought up in a classroom, like ever,’ said Adrienna Wyatt, one of the parents who posted the video online told WSB-TV on Tuesday.
Wyatt said the daughter of a family friend was the student who recorded the video last week. She added that she and the girl’s mother both re-posted the disturbing clip.

Wyatt suspects that the roar of laughter heard in the classroom was a result of ’embarrassment’ because ‘there were some black kids in the classroom.’
The appalled mother added that she hoped by posting the video that the staff member would be ‘held accountable’ for his actions.
‘People need to be held accountable for that and it’s not okay to make kids feel a certain type of way while they’re in the classroom,’ she said.
Following the distressing incident, the Walton County School District released a statement announcing the staff member involved, whom they did not name, ‘is no longer employed’ with Walton County Schools.
‘We are aware of the recent news coverage regarding an incident at Walnut Grove High School,’ the statement posted on the school’s website reads.
‘The behavior captured in the video does not reflect the values of Walnut Grove High School or the Walton County School District. Immediate action was taken, and the teacher is no longer employed with Walton County Schools.’
Several parents in the area said they are shocked and disappointed at the content of the viral video.
‘A lot of people are saying “Oh it was a joke. You don’t know what they were saying before.” But what kind of joke inside a classroom setting has to deal with those types of racial slurs?’ Wyatt asked.

‘People actually lost their lives behind that word, people went to jail behind that word. It’s nothing to joke about,’ Gary Brown told WSB-TV
‘He probably got these students thinking it’s cool to say it. They’re probably saying it now,’ another worried parent, Gary Brown, said.
‘People actually lost their lives behind that word, people went to jail behind that word. It’s nothing to joke about,’ Brown added.
It is unclear as to what led up to the offensive word being written on the board, however, WSB-TV reports that ‘some sort of game’ was being played at the time.
It is also unclear on whether the students seen laughing and cheering in the video will be, or have been disciplined.
In the Tuesday statement, the school district thanked the community for ‘continued trust and support’ as they laid out the districts ‘commitments.’
‘Our commitment remains clear: every student deserves a safe, supportive and respectful environment. We are dedicated to our students, our culture and moving forward together as ONE Walton County. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.’
