Liverpool have rejected a £58.5million bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz and insisted they have no intention of selling the Colombia winger.
The German champions have been tracking Diaz all summer and made a formal approach, totalling €67.5m, to Liverpool on Tuesday but they were immediately rebuffed by Liverpool.
Diaz, who has two years remaining on his contract, cost Liverpool £50million when they gazumped Manchester United and Tottenham to sign him from FC Porto in January 22 and he has become an integral part of the squad.
During Liverpool’s march to the title last season, Diaz scored 13 times and created a further five goals and he played 36 times in Arne Slot’s debut campaign, the Dutchman unlocking a new level of improvement from him.
Liverpool place such importance on Diaz they value him beyond £100million – the same fee Manchester United rejected for their influential captain Bruno Fernandes from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal at the beginning of June.
Saudi clubs have been monitoring Diaz for some time, with Al Nassr at the head of the queue. They had discussed a bid in the region of €72m (£62.5m) – in that premise alone, Bayern Munich were well short of the mark.

Bayern Munich have been looking to boost their attacking options during the transfer window
Barcelona have also been persistently linked with Diaz but they have not made any contact and, even if they did, it would not be welcomed by Liverpool.
Though there has been no advancement in a new deal for Diaz – or central defender Ibrahima Konate – Liverpool insist they see the 28-year-old as a pivotal figure for the new season and beyond.
It remains to be seen, however, whether Bayern are deterred – or if they are prepared to go into financial territory that may lead Liverpool to rethink the situation.
Liverpool have been busy so far this summer, spending close to £180million on Florian Wirtz, who sat out Sunday’s 3-1 win at Preston, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. They retain an interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
Earlier reports suggest Diaz has told Liverpool he wants to leave the club this summer, with the Colombian attracting a wealth of interest from top European clubs.
Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for an initial fee of £37.5m.
To date, Diaz has played 148 times for Liverpool and scored 41 goals for the club.
Diaz made 50 appearances for Arne Slot’s side last season, with the Reds clinching the Premier League title.
The Colombian international made a significant contribution, starting 28 matches in the Premier League, scoring 13 times and providing seven assists.
Mail Sport reported earlier this month that Bayern’s initial interest in Diaz had been rebuffed after a phone call from sporting director Max Eberl.
Bayern have already missed out on two key targets this summer, as the German giants look to boost their attacking options.
Florian Wirtz opted to join Liverpool over Bayern, with the Reds signing the German international from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal that could reach £116m.

Athletic Club winger Nico Williams also opted to snub interest from Bayern and Barcelona to sign a new contract with the club.
Club legend Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane were among long-serving Bayern stars to leave the club this summer, while Mathys Tel completed a permanent move to Tottenham following his loan move.
Bayern have also endured the blow of losing Jamal Musiala to a long-term injury, after sustained a broken leg and dislocated ankle at the FIFA Club World Cup.
