Marselles Brown, the father of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, was arrested in Las Vegas on Wednesday night for attempted homicide following a parking lot dispute.
The 57-year-old former professional boxer was taken into custody by Las Vegas Metro Police on Wednesday following the incident at All American Park.
According to officials, the altercation began as an argument over a parking spot before it turned physical and Marselles allegedly stabbed the victim in the stomach.
The victim, a local youth coach, was rushed to a nearby hospital and underwent surgery. His current condition is unknown.
Police say Brown fled the scene but was later tracked down and arrested. He is facing a charge of attempted murder and is due in court Thursday afternoon.
Brown, who made his professional boxing debut in 1989, finished his career with a 33-18-1 record, including 25 knockouts. His last recorded fight was nearly a decade ago.

Jaylen Brown, 28, is one of the NBA’s top stars and helped lead the Boston Celtics to a championship title in 2024. The team has not yet issued a statement on the arrest.
In 2023, he signed a five-year, $304 million supermax extension – the richest contract in NBA history at the time.
Meanwhile, his father Marselles collected several titles during his career, including the 2015 World Boxing Union C.A.M. Heavyweight title and the 2016 WBU World Championship. Brown also held a role on the Hawaii State Boxing Commission Board.
In 2016, he came out of retirement for a short stint to serve as a living example for his sons, hoping to show them the perseverance needed to succeed in elite sports.
‘My main motivation for coming out of retirement was to show my kids that I never gave up on my dreams,’ he told Boxing247.com at the time. ‘I didn’t want them to give up on theirs.’
He added: ‘I am extremely proud of both my sons. I am especially proud of Jaylen. He is an extraordinary athlete and very smart.’
