Jaylen Brown’s father allegedly swung a knife at a man ’25 times’ according to a witness statement to police regarding his arrest for attempted murder.
On Wednesday night, former professional boxer Marselles Brown was taken into custody by Las Vegas Metro Police following the incident at All American Park.
The 57-year-old was booked into Clark County Detention Center on Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder and now further details from the night have emerged.
According to officials, the altercation began as an argument over a parking spot before it turned physical and Marselles allegedly stabbed the victim in the stomach.
The girlfriend of the man who was stabbed claims they were sitting in the parking lot when an SUV parked next to them and someone came out of the passenger side.
The passenger door of the SUV hit the driver’s side door, and the woman said her boyfriend got out to check for damage.

The other man in the SUV was immediately confrontational, said ‘it was just a bump’ and called the boyfriend a ‘b**** a**,’ the woman told police.
Her boyfriend slapped a side mirror on the SUV in response, and the man asked ‘if he wanted to go,’ to which the boyfriend said yes.
The girlfriend told police that the man from the SUV walked over to him ‘while producing [an] unknown object from his right side’ and then ‘swung his arm in a straight stabbing motion and struck [the boyfriend] in his back.’
Another witness said the man swung his knife at the alleged victim ’25 times.’
According to reports, bail had been set $300,000 and Brown would need to wear an ankle monitor.
In an interview, however, his attorney Harvey Weinstock said: ‘I’ve known Mr Brown for quite some time and I do not believe that he initiated anything. He is telling me that everything that occurred was him trying to defend himself after he was struck’.
Weinstock also revealed that Brown said that the victim struck him with a gun, before the NBA star’s father retaliated.
Brown, who made his professional boxing debut in 1989, finished his career with a 33-18-1 record, including 25 knockouts. His last recorded fight was nearly a decade ago.
Jaylen Brown, 28, is one of the NBA’s top stars and helped lead the Boston Celtics to a championship title in 2024. The team has not yet issued a statement on the arrest.

Meanwhile, his father Marselles collected several titles during his career, including the 2015 World Boxing Union C.A.M. Heavyweight title and the 2016 WBU World Championship. Brown also held a role on the Hawaii State Boxing Commission Board.
In 2016, he came out of retirement for a short stint to serve as a living example for his sons, hoping to show them the perseverance needed to succeed in elite sports.
‘My main motivation for coming out of retirement was to show my kids that I never gave up on my dreams,’ he told Boxing247.com at the time. ‘I didn’t want them to give up on theirs.’
He added: ‘I am extremely proud of both my sons. I am especially proud of Jaylen. He is an extraordinary athlete and very smart.’
