Hollywood veteran Malcolm McDowell confessed he’s never tuned into his daughter-in-law Lily Collins‘s hit Netflix series Emily In Paris.
The A Clockwork Orange star, 82, explained the plot, which follows Emily Cooper, an ambitious marketing executive from America who moves to Paris after her company acquires a French marketing firm, just simply doesn’t draw him in.
‘To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that,’ he told People. ‘But I’m the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she’s absolutely one of the great actresses.’
Malcolm’s son, director Charlie McDowell, tied the knot with Lily in 2021 — and while the actor doesn’t binge her show, he couldn’t be prouder of her career.
‘She has such a beautiful quality,’ he gushed. ‘As far as I’m concerned, when she’s on the screen, there’s nobody else on it, because she’s not only a good actress, but she has a beautiful quality. I suppose, it’s a sort of charisma.’
The British screen legend even credited Lily, 36, whose father is music icon Phil Collins, with boosting Paris tourism thanks to the series.

‘I’m sure (it) has gone up so much from people in the United States watching and going, “Yeah, let’s go to Paris,”‘ he added.
It isn’t the first time McDowell has praised his daughter-in-law.
Last year, he compared her screen presence to Hollywood’s ultimate style icon.
‘Lily is absolutely a star. I’m in awe of her work. I think she’s one of the best young actresses around,’ he said. ‘I love watching her — she’s got that Audrey Hepburn kind of thing going, which is indefinable in a way, but it’s there. There’s a sort of light that shines behind the eyes somehow. She’s really fantastic.’
And according to McDowell, Lily is just as captivating in real life. ‘She’s what you see is what you get. She’s delightful,’ he shared.
Despite the admiration, McDowell admitted he doesn’t see Lily and Charlie as much as he would like, as the couple spend much of their time in Europe while he is based in the US.
‘They’re both wonderful people. I don’t see enough of them,’ he confessed. ‘They live in Europe a lot of the time, so I don’t really see them that much, but when I see them, it’s always great to just hang.’

Earlier this month, the Et Tu star raved about their ‘absolutely gorgeous’ daughter, Tove, seven months.
‘I love being around them and just watching the antics that go on and the dynamic and the difference between them all. It’s staggering,’ he said of seeing all his grandchildren interact.
He continued: ‘They’re so different in personality and everything. It’s just beautiful to watch.’
‘Of course, being a grandfather, you’re kind of watching it from afar,’ he explained. ‘They come over and swim or something and I see them occasionally, but we live in the same town, so it’s really nice to bump into them on the street and it’s great.’
