Vice President JD Vance responded Thursday to MSNBC’s Jen Psaki and others on the left for denouncing conservatives for their call for prayer after the Annunciation Church shooting in Minneapolis.
‘We pray because our hearts are broken. We pray because we know God listens. We pray because we know that God works in mysterious ways, and can inspire us to further action,’ Vance wrote, in response to Psaki.
Paski lit up social media with a rant on Wednesday after the shooting occurred, berating calls for prayer as a failure to properly respond to mass shootings.
‘Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers does not end school shootings. Prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back,’ she wrote. ‘Enough with the thoughts and prayers.’
But Vance appeared incredulous by her response.
‘Why do you feel the need to attack other people for praying when kids were just killed praying?’ he asked.
Psaki’s attack on prayer was one of many left-wing politicians and personalities who angrily denounced the right for turning to prayer in response to the shooting instead of calls for more gun control.
‘Of all the weird left wing culture wars in the last few years, this is by far the most bizarre,’ Vance wrote in response to Psaki. ‘What are you even talking about?’

Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey also criticized calls for prayer shortly after the shooting on Wednesday.
‘Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now: these kids were literally praying,’ he said during a press conference, sparking outrage from the right.
Vance expressed amazement at the knee-jerk reaction from the left to criticize people for praying.
‘It is shocking to me that so many left wing politicians attack the idea of prayer in response to a tragedy,’ Vance wrote. ‘Literally no one thinks prayer is a substitute for action. We pray because our hearts are broken and we believe that God is listening.’
Two children were killed and seventeen victims were injured after 23-year-old Robin Westman shot into a Catholic church in Minneapolis, on Wednesday, unleashing terror on a school of children attending Mass. Two children, 8 and 10, were killed in the pews.
Vance’s first public response to the shooting on Wednesday was to call for prayer on social media.
‘Join all of us in praying for the victims!’ he wrote shortly after news of the attack spread.
President Donald Trump also called for prayer in response to the attacks.
‘The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!’ he wrote on social media.
