Ben Shelton was given a grilling by his soccer star girlfriend Trinity Rodman during his US Open press conference on Wednesday night.
The American No 6 seed cruised into the third round with a 6-4 6-2 6-4 win over Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta.
USWNT star Rodman – the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman – was in the crowd on Louis Armstrong Stadium and later she sat alongside reporters as Shelton discussed his win.
The final question he faced came from Rodman, who trolled her boyfriend by asking: ‘How did it feel not being able to serve faster than 135(mph) today?’
Shelton turned to the moderator and replied with a smile: ‘Why did you give her a question?’
But the 22-year-old was unable to escape her inquisition.

‘I know you like to serve big, and it wasn’t breaking 140 today,’ Rodman continued.
This time, her boyfriend played along. ‘It was cold outside, so I think that was the main reason,’ he said.
‘I was focused on hitting spots, and I didn’t hit those spots. So maybe I should have just served bigger. It’s something that I’ll definitely work on next time.’
The exchange was recorded on the US Open YouTube channel and by tennis reporter Ben Rothenberg.
Earlier this week, Rodman took a red-eye flight from California to New York in time for Shelton’s first-round match at Flushing Meadows

Rodman has finally recovered from a back injury and Shelton said it’s ‘the plan 100 per cent’ to see her in action.
‘She’s been grinding to pull up to a lot of tournaments this year. At the beginning of the year we’re like: “We’re not really going to see each other,”‘ he said.
‘And she’s been to Munich, Madrid, Paris, Wimbledon, Mallorca, D.C., Cincy, here. We doing all right.’
