An outbreak of deadly salmonella has sickened more than a dozen people across 10 states, health officials have warned.
The CDC last week sounded the alarm about an outbreak of salmonella, a type of bacteria that can cause bloody diarrhea, cramps and vomiting.
The bacteria has been tied to four different frozen home delivery meals from wellness company Metabolic Meals.
Potentially contaminated meals include: Four Cheese Tortellini with Pesto Sauce and Grilled Chicken; Low Carb Chicken Teriyaki and Vegetables; Black Garlic and Ranch Chicken Tenders with Roasted Vegetables; and Sliced Top Sirloin with Roasted Peanut Sauce and Summer Vegetables.
All affected meals were delivered delivered directly to consumers’ homes during the week of July 28, 2025, and had expiration dates ranging between August 5 and August 8, 2025. Illnesses were reported between July 25 and August 15.
The CDC said 16 people have been sickened by the bacteria, seven of which have been hospitalized. However, the agency said the actual number of cases may be higher. No deaths have been reported.
Sickened patients live in Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin. California and Missouri have the most cases, with each reporting three.
The CDC said investigators are still working to determine the specific source of salmonella contamination.

Lot numbers of the affected products are 25199, 25202, 25205, 25203, 25199, 25202, 25203, 25204 and 25205.
Salmonella is usually found in foods contaminated with animal feces and is most common in poultry, red meat, dairy products, eggs, fish, fruits and vegetables.
The CDC urged Metabolic Meals costumers to avoid eating affected products while the investigation is ongoing.
It also stressed the importance of washing items and surfaces that may have come into contact with the meal ingredients.
The CDC said in its statement: ‘Check your refrigerator and freezer for these products and throw them away or contact the company.’
Missouri-based Metabolic Meals is a home delivery meal service that focuses on ‘macro-friendly’ meals, according to its website.

It has 3,200 weekly subscribers across 48 states.
The CDC said in its statement that Metabolic Meals is working with investigators and has ‘reached out to customers directly who purchased the meal types listed above to inform them of the outbreak.’
Salmonella strikes 1.3million Americans every year, hospitalizes 26,500 and kills around 400. However, because salmonella often causes no symptoms and goes undiagnosed, case numbers are likely much higher.
Symptoms include bloody diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps that begin six hours to six days after initial infection, according to the CDC.
While most people recover, children or older people may suffer deadly bloodstream infections due to having weakened immune systems.
