Vice President JD Vance singled out left-wing philanthropists like George Soros and other non-governmental organizations on Monday for fueling left-wing hate against people like conservative activist Charlie Kirk who was shot and killed on Wednesday.
Kirk, a conservative activist known for his campus debates, was shot and killed last week. Authorities arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson on Friday and is awaiting charges.
Vance pointed to an article in left-wing The Nation magazine about Kirk’s death and claimed the author intentionally ‘lied’ about something Kirk had said about racial issues.
The article further claimed that Kirk was an ‘unrepentant racist, transphobe, homophobe, and misogynist’ and did not deserve to be celebrated.
Vance revealed that the Soros-funded Open Society Foundation and the Ford Foundation funded the ‘disgusting article’ in the Nation that he said was ‘justifying Charlie’s death.’
The vice president vowed that the federal government would work to ‘dismantle the institutions that promote violence and terrorism in our own country’ in the coming months and urged his followers to be patient with their progress.
Vance conceded there was a need for more political civility and unity in the country but defied the idea that both sides of the political aisle were to blame.
‘This is not a “both sides” problem,’ he said. ‘It is a statistical fact that most of the lunatics in American politics today are proud members of the far left.’

Raising his voice, Vance declared there was ‘no unity’ to be found with the radical far left who were increasingly fueling violence against members of the Trump administration.
‘There is no unity with someone who lies about what Charlie Kirk said in order to excuse his murder …there is no unity with the people who celebrate Charlie Kirk’s assassination, and there is no unity with the people who fund these articles, who pay the salaries of these terrorist sympathizers,’ he said.
A spokesperson for the Open Society Foundations told the Daily Mail that the organization had ‘unequivocally condemned the horrific murder of Charlie Kirk.’
‘It is disgraceful to use this tragedy for political ends to dangerously divide Americans and attack the First Amendment,’ the spokesperson said in response to Vance’s remarks.
The Ford Foundation clarified in a statement to the Daily Mail that they had not provided any funding to The Nation magazine since 2019 and condemned politically motivated violence.
‘The murder of Charlie Kirk was an appalling act of violence,’ the foundation said to the Daily Mail. ‘We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.’
The vice president specified that the Trump administration would not go after ‘constitutionally protected speech,’ but rather the ‘NGO networks that foments, facilitates and engages in violence.’
Vance spoke about Kirk’s death on the former activist’s radio show, guest-hosting the program from his office at the White House executive office building.

He also brought on the program Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller to talk about their goals to ‘identify, disrupt and dismantle’ the left-wing organizations who were organizing and promoting physical violence.
Miller conceded he was experiencing both ‘incredible sadness’ but also ‘incredible anger’ after his friend’s death and vowed to channel his anger into action against the left.
‘The thing about anger is that unfocused anger or blind rage is not a productive emotion, but focused anger, righteous anger, directed for a just cause, is one of the most important agents of change in human history,’ Miller said.
‘Amen,’ Vance replied.
