Isla Fisher has made an eye-opening confession about her time modelling for men’s magazines, revealing that she ‘didn’t really have a choice’.
The actress, who has become a Hollywood heavyweight thanks to films such as Now You See Me, Wedding Crashers and The Great Gatsby, appeared on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Wednesday morning.
Radio host Kate, who formerly appeared on Home and Away with Isla, confessed that she was always ‘jealous’ of her because she got to be on the cover of FHM and made the list of 100 Sexiest Women in the World in 1997 and 2003.
However, Isla revealed that it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows on her journey to stardom.
Speaking of her FHM cover, the 49-year-old confessed that it wasn’t a ‘high point’ in her career.
‘You didn’t really have a choice back then. I don’t remember ever feeling like I could weigh in on anything until I got into my 30s.’

Reflecting on her lack of power in the early days of her career, Isla said she ‘went with the flow’ when it came to decisions.
‘As a woman in this business, it was like, ‘Oh, they want you, yay’. And you sort of went with the flow.
‘Now I’m like, “Oh, hang on, I’ve got some agency”.’
She added: ‘I actually don’t have to do something if I don’t want to. Now it feels really good.’
Isla recently spoke out about the ‘tough’ end of her decade-long marriage to Sacha Baron Cohen.
The Aussie actress and the Borat creator, 53, who share three children, split at the end of 2023 after 14 years of marriage.
The star told Harper’s Bazaar she suffered through ‘a tough couple of years’ amid their divorce, but is excited for what’s to come.
‘I’ve had a tough couple of years, but I’m making it through. I’m really excited for the next chapter,’ she told the publication.

‘I’m refocusing on my career, because previously I was very much focused on my kids, which I still am…
‘[They’re] my true love. But I’m enjoying tackling work again.’
Isla added that, aside from refocusing on her career, she was also re-establishing her identity outside of her marriage to Sacha.
‘I’m trying to remind myself of my new identity as somebody outside of a partnership and to stay as buoyant as possible,’ she said.
The pair announced they have finalised their divorce in June.
In a message, posted simultaneously on both their Instagram accounts, they said: ‘Our divorce has now been finalised.
‘We are proud of all we’ve achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children. We ask for the media to continue to respect our children’s privacy.’
