He shot to global fame as the fresh-faced frontman of 5 Seconds of Summer – but Luke Hemmings is barely recognisable these days after unveiling a dramatic new look.
The Sydney-born rocker, 29, who has been living in Los Angeles for the past few years, shocked fans this week when he posted a bathroom mirror selfie showing off his edgy transformation.
Gone is the clean-cut image of his early boy band days.
Instead, Luke sported a spiky bleached-blonde hairstyle, a sheer singlet that left little to the imagination, and a statement kilt-style skirt cinched with a thick black belt.
Fans flooded social media with reactions to his striking new look, with many praising the singer for embracing his individuality.
‘Luke Hemmings is entering his punk-rock prince era and I’m here for it,’ one fan tweeted, while another wrote: ‘This is the glow-up we never saw coming.’

The bold fashion statement comes as the Aussie rockers prepare to release their highly anticipated new album, which marks a creative shift for the chart-topping group.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about their evolution, Luke admitted the band is keen to shake off old labels.
‘Call us a boy band all you want,’ he said. ‘But don’t call this a comeback. We’ve never stopped working, writing, and pushing ourselves.’
The group – also made up of Calum Hood, Michael Clifford and Ashton Irwin – formed in western Sydney in 2011 before skyrocketing to international fame with hits like She Looks So Perfect and Youngblood.
Now, more than a decade on, the bandmates say they are driven by artistic reinvention rather than pop stardom.
‘This is about being authentic and exploring sounds that feel true to who we are now,’ Luke told the magazine.
Luke also made headlines in August when he surprised fans by announcing that he has welcomed his first child with his wife Sierra Deaton.
In the blurry, vintage-style pictures, Luke and Sierra can be seen holding their hands on Sierra’s belly while in a rose garden.

A snap showed the baby’s feet, while another showed the baby holding a tiny bunch of flowers to her chest as the proud mum held her fingers.
‘Our best kept secret,’ they penned, ‘Written and Produced by Sierra and Luke Hemmings.’
The couple, who are believed to have married in 2022, did not confirm the gender of the baby in the caption.
But many of the pictures saw the family surrounded by pink roses and flowers, and later in the comments Luke confirmed that Sierra had given birth to a baby girl.
Explaining why he kept it secret, he wrote in the comments: ‘In our perfect world, we’d keep our daughter a secret forever… for similar reasons we chose to never share our wedding photos from years ago.
‘However, going into this next album cycle I’m very aware that her existence would inevitably leak.
‘To avoid any speculation, we’re posting this now and humbly asking for everyone to respect her privacy,’ he continued.
‘If you see us in public, please avoid taking or sharing photos of her as we don’t plan on publicising her name, birthdate, or face any time in the near future.
‘Thank you for understanding and for the support. All our love, The Hemmings.’
