In light of this, the nation’s most scenic train journeys have been revealed, by anaylsing price and TripAdvisor reviews.

Emerging as the UK’s most picturesque train ride is the Tamar Valley Line with a score of 9.05 out of 10 and a ticket to board costing £8.30.
The route, which travels through Plymouth and Gunnislake, offers views of stunning green landscape, quaint villages, rivers and dockyards and of the iconic Royal Albert Bridge.
The journey’s scenery is commonly described as ‘delightful’ and ‘panoramic’ in reviews.
Following in second place is St Ives Bay Line, which boasts a score of 7.86 out of 10 and a ticket price of just £4.20.

Taking the third spot is the heritage Downpatrick & County Down Railway route in Northern Ireland, scoring 7.38 out of 10 despite offering tickets at a more costly £10.50.
The route runs through the lush green countryside of County Down, giving travellers the opportunity to take in breathtaking views whilst aboard an old-fashioned train.
In fourth place is England’s Looe Valley Line, which boasts affordable £6.20 tickets and a score of 6.91.
The route provides a peaceful, nine-mile journey through rolling hills and deeply wooded valley, along with views of the East Looe River and sightings of wildlife, such as grey herons and little egrets, before arriving at the popular seaside town of Looe.
Though it offers the most expensive tickets out of all listed routes at a whopping £23.00, Cambrian Coast Link ranks fifth with a score of 5.96 out of 10.
The journey is considered one of Wales’s most scenic thanks to its views of Snowdonia National Park, historic castles, seaside villages, coastal landscapes and the iconic Barmouth Bridge.
Rounding out the top six is England’s Esk Valley Line, also scoring 5.96 yet offering tickets for £9.50.
