A top female French comedian is facing a police probe after kicking a six-year-old boy in the stomach on the Champs Elysees.
Nawell Madani is accused of assaulting the young boy, named locally as Djulian, after he attempted to take a photo with her, his family have said.
Following the Monday attack, which occurred at around 10:30pm, the child was rushed to Necker Hospital before Madani handed herself into the police.
According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, she explained that she ‘had been approached by children, had been afraid of being robbed, and had struck a child.’
An investigation into ‘violence against a child under 15’ has since been opened.
The boy’s father – a single dad to four sons aged six to 13 – told local media they had left a restaurant on the Champs Elysees before they ran into the comedy icon.
According to the father, Bebethan, the children are well known in France for being TikTok stars and have over 10,000 followers on the platform.
As they had been walking away from the restaurant, they bumped into a local fan named Nabil and struck up conversation when Madani walked past.

Nabil, who had been an extra in one of Madani’s shows, greeted the comedian, causing Djulian to ask who she was.
The fan explained that Madani was a famous actress and Djulian made the request to take a photo with her, to which his father agreed.
According to Bebethan, the three eldest brothers began running towards Madani, with Djulian following close behind.
One of the brothers told Le Parisien that the comedian had got ‘angry with us’ and warned them to ‘stay behind’ – but Djulian had not heard this.
‘The older ones stopped dead in their tracks,’ Bebethan recalled. ‘But Djulian was already running, and since he didn’t hear, he kept running toward her.’
He said the comedian had a small dog in her bag which the young boy wanted to pet.
But in just a matter of moments, the situation turned sour as Madani ‘turned around and gave him a huge kick in the chest,’ said Bebethan.
‘The kid flew and crashed to the ground. While he was on the ground, I heard her say to the child, ‘Now you’re going to respect me’,’ he told the French newspaper.
Djulian reportedly stood up crying before running screaming into his father’s arms.
Nabil said the father remained calm, but Madani quickly pulled out her phone to capture the friend confronting her about her actions.
‘I think she realised her mistake and started calling us names, accusing the children of trying to rob her and calling them thugs and scum,’ Nabil said.

Bebethan desperately called the authorities and Djulian was rushed to hospital, but the comedian reportedly left before medics could arrive.
‘She went her own way without even worrying about Djulian’s condition,’ the father added.
Djulian was was released without any visible injuries, but remained in shock following the incident.
His father filed a complaint to the police between midnight and 1am, and the following day, Djulian was taken back to the hospital after continuing to complain of chest pain.
Madani did not respond to Le Parisien’s request for comment.
