The fallout from Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo’s arrest is growing — the reality star has now lost her teaching job.
The 41-year-old Bravo personality and her husband Eddie Osefo were taken into custody in Maryland, last Thursday after being indicted by a grand jury on charges of insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and making a false statement to a police officer.
According to court documents, the couple claimed that designer bags and jewelry were stolen from their home while the family was away on vacation during an alleged April 2024 burglary.
But police later discovered that several of the items — worth roughly $20,000 — had allegedly been returned to stores for a ‘full refund’ before the supposed break-in even took place.
Hours after news of the arrest went viral, Bravo pulled Osefo’s episode of the upcoming Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, which she had recently filmed for the network.
Now, Wesleyan University has confirmed that Osefo has been removed from her teaching position in the wake of the scandal.

Now, Wesleyan University has confirmed that Osefo has been removed from her teaching position in the wake of the scandal
‘Wendy Osefo is no longer an employee of Wesleyan University,’ the college said in a statement, per TMZ.
Daily Mail has not received a response to its request for comment from representatives for Osefo.
Wendy had served as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Sociology at the Connecticut-based university, where she began teaching in fall 2024.
Her course focused on reality television and social issues.
Before joining Wesleyan, Osefo taught at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland until her resignation in 2024.
The TV star holds degrees from Temple University and Johns Hopkins, as well as a Ph.D. in public affairs and community development from Rutgers University.
Just days after her arrest, Bravo quietly pushed back the premiere of Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, which was set to feature Wendy Osefo in the debut episode.
Wendy’s installment was originally billed as the series opener, though promos later shifted her to episode two.

Bravo has pulled Dr. Wendy Osefo’s episode of the new series Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition following her shock arrest for fraud charges
The show was slated to premiere October 14 but will now debut a week later, on October 21.
In the episode, the RHOP star swaps her strict, schedule-driven Maryland household for the anything-goes Florida home of free-spirited Alethea Shapiro — a woman who lives for fun, independence, and her ferrets.
‘Will Dr. Wendy be able to find the balance between structure and fun?’ the official synopsis teases. ‘Can Alethea bring a little more spontaneity to the Osefo family?’
But Wendy’s real-life drama has already stolen the spotlight.
She and husband Eddie — parents of three — were indicted by a Maryland grand jury on 16 charges, including seven counts of felony insurance fraud, eight counts of misdemeanor conspiracy insurance fraud, and one misdemeanor false statement to police.
She was released on a $50,000 bond the following day, per court records.
The charges stem from an alleged staged burglary at their home in April 2024, during which the couple claimed nearly half a million dollars in stolen designer goods.
Investigators later discovered that many of the luxury items had either resurfaced or been returned for refunds long before the supposed break-in — including a $1,450 Dior shirt and a $949 Gucci wallet.

A search warrant later uncovered at least 15 ‘stolen’ items inside the couple’s residence.
Prosecutors also allege Eddie emailed Wendy, instructing her to ‘add high-value items’ to their insurance list to boost their payout.
During a September 2020 episode of the Gabbing With Gib podcast, Wendy went into detail about the alleged incident.
‘It happened because my family was away on spring break,’ she said at the time. ‘It was our spring break trip with the kiddos and I was just so heartbroken.’

A rep subsequently shared with E! News , ‘Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits.’
The statement continued, ‘They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans and colleagues.
‘The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.’
Osefo is best known as one of the central figures on The Real Housewives of Potomac.
She joined the cast in Season 5 and quickly became known for her sharp intellect, outspoken personality, and on-camera clashes with co-stars like Gizelle Bryant and Mia Thornton.
A political commentator and professor-turned-reality star, Wendy often used the show to highlight her academic achievements and entrepreneurial ventures — from launching a candle line to supporting her husband’s cannabis business.
Just one week before her arrest, the couple were seen celebrating their financial success on the Oct. 5 episode of RHOP.
‘I’m really proud of Eddie,’ Wendy said on camera, referring to her husband’s company, Happy Eddie. ‘Happy Eddie is—you know—financially successful. Cha-ching!’
The scene, which showed the pair toasting to their growing empire, has since taken on a far different tone in light of the recent charges.
