Anthea Turner has opened up on being labelled a ‘homewrecker’ after falling for a married man.
The TV presenter, 65, left her husband, former Radio 1 DJ Peter Powell, in 1998 for property developer Grant Bovey, who at the time was married with three young children.
Grant, a friend of Peter, left his wife Della and their daughters, then aged two, four, and seven.
While the saga played out like a real-life soap opera for the public, for those involved, it was a deeply painful experience.
She was branded a homewrecker, with paparazzi camped outside her home and the media criticising her actions.
Reflecting on that chapter of her life in a new interview, she described the way the media portrayed her as ‘vile.’

Anthea told the Telegraph: ‘I owned up to it, because when people split up and say, ‘There’s nobody else involved’, you know damn well there is.
‘I asked a solicitor friend to put out a statement because otherwise they were going to go poking around and something was going to get found out.
‘I look back on it all now, it was a series of unfortunate events.’
Anthea went on to be with Grant and they were married for 15 years.
They first split in 2012 and briefly reconciled before separating for good in 2013, and were divorced in 2015 on the grounds of his adultery.
The marriage ended after she discovered that Grant, then 52, was having an affair with interior designer Zoe de Mallet Morgan.
Her discovery came less than a year after she had forgiven him for an indiscretion with another woman.
Looking back at their relationship, the presenter revealed she does not regret marrying ex-husband Grant despite him cheating on her.

Anthea has since found love again with businessman Mark Armstrong and the pair got engaged in 2019
In 2023, She told the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden: ‘I’m a glass is half-full kind of woman and I always think of all the good things that came of our marriage.
‘People who walk around with a big bag of regrets, recriminations, they never move forward properly.
‘I move on, I’m not a natural dweller, and I think it is a female sense of survival.’
The presenter revealed in October that she wrote a letter to Grant, pleading with him to understand how the menopause was responsible for her behaviour in their marriage, not knowing he was already cheating on her with a 24-year-old.
Anthea said her work commitments made it hard to have a proper conversation with her ex, so she tried to put down the changes she was experiencing on paper.
Fast forward to present day, Anthea has found love again with millionaire businessman Mark Armstrong, with them getting engaged in 2019.
Recalling his proposal during a romantic trip to Italy, she told HELLO: ‘I had a hunch. It was all very quick (we were engaged within just a few months of meeting),’
‘But when you are older it does tend to move a bit quicker because ‘when you know, you know’ and there is no point in messing around is there?!’.
