Demand for pistachio ‘Dubai chocolate’ flavoured foods shows no sign of slowing after Aldi Australia launched an indulgent treat.
Last week, chocolate-lovers rushed to the budget supermarket chain for a taste of the Food Envy Mousse in a Dubai Style Choc flavour, which is already flying off shelves in stores nationwide.
Sold in a handy two-pack for $4.99, the mousse is tucked away in the cold section near the yoghurts and other chilled desserts. (A hazelnut chocolate version of the mousse was also recently released.)
The trendy treat caught the eye of Aussie food reviewer Nectro Vlangos, better known online as Nectorious Papi. He sampled the new mousse in a video on his @nectoriouspapi account, delivering a glowing verdict.
The triple-layered treat comes in a small tub, boasting a smooth blend of aromatic pistachio and traditional kadayıf, a rich and velvety chocolate mousse centre, and a decadent chocolate sauce topping.
‘Oh yeah, that’s a winner,’ he said after tasting a spoonful.
‘It tastes like Dubai chocolate, but in mousse form,’ Nectro described. ‘The pistachio with the kadayıf in it is incredible. And the chocolate on top is quite nice as well.’
His final word? ‘It’s amazing. Definitely try this if you’re a fan of Dubai chocolate anything.’

After seeing the review video, it appeared some shoppers wasted no time in hunting down a tub.
‘You convinced me to get these and boy is the Dubai style so rich but good,’ one said.
‘Omg the Dubai one was bomb!’ agreed another.
‘The Dubai mousse was on point – tried it today,’ a third person added.
However, not everyone was so fortunate. Some shoppers were dismayed that the treat was nowhere to be found in their local Aldi store.
A Brisbane shopper confirmed they’d enjoyed the dessert a week prior, describing it as ‘seriously delicious’.
But when they attempted to buy more of it in recent days, they could no longer find it on shelves.
The shopper vented their frustration in an online forum, saying that they’d now searched three stores – and still ‘can’t find it anywhere.’
The popular and trendy dessert tubs, sold in a 2 pack for $4.99, have reportedly already become increasingly tricky to find in stores
In reply to the Reddit post, a fellow fan of the flavoured mousse agreed that it was ‘insanely good’ – and urged the original poster not to give up looking for it because the taste was worth it.
‘The choc layer is absolute perfection,’ they added.
When Daily Mail contacted Aldi Australia for comment, they confirmed that customers should indeed keep their eyes peeled for the dessert because it’s ‘around in stores, but only for a limited time’.
‘We’re always excited to see customers enjoying our latest products, and our triple layered Dubai-style chocolate mousse has certainly been flying off the shelves since we launched it in October,’ the spokesperson said.
‘Rest assured this product is still around in stores, but only for a limited time.’
However, Daily Mail understands that the product is not listed on the Aldi website, which makes it tricky to track the product’s availability at particular stores.
The original Dubai chocolate was based on a 2021 recipe by Sarah Hamouda of FIX Dessert Chocolatier. At that time, the indulgent treat was only available in Dubai
In case you’ve somehow missed it, crunchy pistachio chocolate has become the flavour of the moment thanks to the viral ‘Dubai chocolate’ trend.
The original chocolate bar was made by Sarah Hamouda of FIX Dessert Chocolatier. At that time, the indulgent treat was only available in Dubai.
It became a viral sensation in 2021 after featuring in numerous TikTok videos. This quickly turned the pistachio-stuffed chocolate block into a cult favourite.
Such was the obsession that sweet-toothed fans even reportedly travelled to the UAE just to get their hands on a block.
Now, many chocolate brands – including Aldi – have released their own ‘Dubai style’ pistachio chocolate blocks.
But while other Dubai-style chocolate bars have attracted a much higher price point, ranging from $19.99 to $95, Aldi’s recent limited-edition version was a relative bargain at $7.99.

Foodies like Nectro also tasted the Aldi version and weighed in with their verdict.
‘If you’ve never tried Dubai chocolate, here’s your chance,’ said the food reviewer.
‘The milk chocolate is awesome, the pistachio is super strong, and the Kadayif is crunchy. It’s exactly what it’s meant to be.
Nick Vavitis, another popular Aussie food reviewer, had similar opinions on the bar, rating it as ‘an 11 out of 10’.
And now, Aldi’s latest dessert is the newest sweet treat to be given a Dubai chocolate flavoured spin.
