An Australian woman was forced to rush to the emergency room after a ‘simple’ TikTok challenge went awry – as she issues a warning about jumping on social media trends.
Bec Hardgrave, from Brisbane, recently attempted to make one of TikTok content creator Logan Moffitt’s viral cucumber recipes.
The popular recipes always call for sliced cucumber – and Bec used a brand new mandolin to cut the vegetable.
But her plan backfired when she sliced a chunk of her hand off.
‘I told myself I won’t fall victim to another trend – but here we are,’ she said in the short clip.
She showed herself using the mandolin and then immediately cut to her in a hospital bed with a bandaged hand.
‘I sliced my hand on that mandolin like a tomato,’ she said.
‘Here’s a warning for everyone – I had just bought that mandolin and didn’t open up the box fully but it comes with a guard so that [you don’t hurt yourself].’

Bec could not get stitches because her wound is too wide, so she will have to wear protective cover on her hand until it heals.
If you’re attempting a similar recipe at home, make sure to exercise caution around sharp blades and be mindful of your surroundings.
What is the viral cucumber recipe and how can I try it?
TikTok chef Logan Moffitt is famous for his ‘cucumber of the day’ recipes.
‘Sometimes you need to eat a whole cucumber, and I’m going to show you the best way to do it,’ he says before revealing a brand new recipe in every video.
The recipes are simple and perfect if you need to meal prep a low-budget lunch or dinner for the week.
Logan’s ‘sushi cucumber’ recently went viral and had millions of people itching to try his other meals.
In order to make the sushi cucumber dish, you’ll need a sliced cucumber, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, wasabi, grated ginger, and Kewpie mayo.
Simply place the sliced cucumber inside a lunchbox or jar and then add the other ingredients to taste.

‘I’m going to make this salmon sushi, so I’ve got some smoked salmon,’ Logan said.
You can also swap salmon out for any other ingredients based on your diet, like firm tofu.
‘I’m just going to chop it into little chunks and put it in with the cucumber,’ he added before sprinkling in MSG and furikake – which is made up of toasted sesame seeds, nori, salt, and sugar.
Next, you put the lid on and shake the ingredients really well together to make sure the cucumber is coated with the homemade dressing.
The chef described the dish as ‘bomb’ and claimed he was ecstatic over the successful – and simple – recipe.
