The One Show viewers were left baffled by Billy Bob Thornton’s ‘odd’ new look after the actor, 69, made an appearance on the BBC chat show on Thursday

The actor was a guest on the show to chat about his role in the Paramount+ series Landman, alongside his co-star Jon Hamm
‘What on earth is Billy Bob Thornton wearing on his head on The One Show? He looks really odd;’
‘Anyone watching The One Show? What is Billy Bob Thornton wearing?’
During the interview with hosts Clara Amfo and Alex Jones, Billy detailed his leading role in the series Landman, which hits Paramount+ on 18th November.
The series focuses on the huge oil boom in Texas and how some of the biggest moguls in the trade will go to any means necessary to maintain their vast wealth.
Discussing his role, Billy said: ‘Landman is certainly, I guess you’d call it a lot of ways the foreman, he deals with all the people in the oil fields, and his boss which is Jon.
‘There’s a lot of pressure to make sure all of that comes off in a very dangerous world. He’s got the weight of the world on his shoulders.
‘Tommy has a sense of humour, but there’s a lot of pressure all the time, as John said this is about how you get this oil out of the ground, and how it affects the people around you, your family and friends.
‘There’s a character, who plays my son who wants to do this and it’s lilke telling our children ”don’t be an actor” one way or another, it’s a very high pressure job.

‘A lot of people think billionaires stay billkionaires, but in the oil business it’s a gamble, and it’s my job to make sure he doesn’t.’
Jon, whose character Monty is married to wife Cami, played by Demi Moore in the series, added: ‘My character has been successful in finding and exploiting the pockets of oil across Texas, and with that comes a huge amount of wealth.
‘But it also comes with a tremendous amount of risk…. with that comes you start bumping into a lot of people who want to do that.
‘There’s a crossroads of a lot of these different agendas to say the least, and the job is to keep your head above water for sure.’
Jon also reflected on his recent appearance in the Apple TV+ hit The Morning Show, which saw him finally get the chance to work with his longtime friend Jennifer Aniston.
He said: ‘Aniston is one of the all-timers she’s a lovely girl, it was a delight to be asked to be part of that show. Pretty much every single part of that job has been truly truly great.’
And Billy also detailed the origin behind one of his iconic roles, in the festive hit Bad Santa, admitting that originally his manager had to try and convince him to consider the role.
He said: ‘My manager talked me into that, he told me the story, and said ”that’s gonna be a career-ender!” then he sent me the script, I read a third of it and I said I’ve gotta do this.
‘One way or the other, we expected it to do OK, we thought peple would think it was funny, but then we thought a lot of people would think it was way too dark, when it became iconic, it was quite a shock.
‘I have two movies every Xmas – Love Actually, which is a very romantic movie, I wasn’t as romantic in it! Every Xmas you have the Love Actually people and the Bad Santa people.’
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
