Forget the frantic scramble for a knife and paper plates at kids’ parties – Woolworths has just made serving birthday cake easier (and cleaner) than ever.
The supermarket has released a vanilla party pack mudcake slab that comes already pre-sliced into 24 generous portions.
The $14 slab joins Woolworths’ best-selling chocolate version, but swaps rich cocoa for light vanilla sponge layered with creamy buttercream.
Parents are already calling it a ‘game-changer’ for parties, with no more messy cutting, uneven slices or extra hands hovering near the cake.
But the vanilla slab isn’t the only addition hitting shelves this week.
Woolworths has also launched two finish-at-home decorated cakes designed to bring the wow-factor of a boutique bakery creation into the kitchen – without the premium price tag.
First up is Leo the Lion Cake ($30), a rich chocolate sponge covered in buttercream and sprinkles, complete with all the decorations you need to finish the lion’s face at home.
Then there’s Yasmin the Unicorn Cake ($30), a vanilla sponge with smooth buttercream and sprinkles, plus unicorn decorations so kids (or adults) can add their own creative touch.

Woolworths has just unveiled two new ‘finish-at-home’ celebration cakes that look like they’ve come straight out of a boutique bakery, but with a fraction of the price tag
The DIY-style cakes are aimed at families who want the fun of decorating without baking from scratch – and they’re already sparking excitement on social media, with one shopper admitting: ‘I’m an adult with a birthday party coming up, but I so want one.’
For smaller occasions, the supermarket is also expanding its cupcake range with a 12-pack of chocolate cupcakes($8.25), giving fans of the vanilla version a richer, cocoa-filled alternative.
Woolworths Category Manager Laura McLeod said the new range was all about giving shoppers ‘the wow factor without the fuss’.
She added: ‘These cakes make it easier than ever to create special moments at celebrations, whether that’s with the fun of decorating Leo the Lion, the magic of Yasmin the Unicorn, or the ease of the pre-sliced vanilla slab.’
With birthday season in full swing, these new cakes are set to be a hit for families who want less time in the kitchen and more time celebrating – and eating.
With birthday season in full swing and the popularity of mudcake hacks showing no sign of slowing down, it’s likely these animal-themed creations won’t stay on shelves for long.
