Hold On singer Carnie Wilson has suffered a health scare.
The 57-year-old songbird of the band Wilson Phillips was hospitalized this week, she revealed on Instagram with a Wednesday post.
Wilson was suffering from complications from her lap-band removal found during the procedure that took place on September 15.
The singer, who previously had gastric bypass in 1999 – which helped her go from 300lbs to 150lbs – and lap-band surgery in 2012, underwent the removal to address issues, but the surgery resulted in a ‘very scary’ find as her blood pressure went up dramatically and she suffered from swollen legs.
Doctors discovered she had an ulcer that needed to be dealt with in a timely manner. ‘It was intense, there was an ulcer in there, it doesn’t surprise me with all the stress I’ve had this year,’ she said in her Instagram video.
The stress was due to the death of her father Brian Wilson of Beach Boys fame who died on June 11, 2025.

‘I am just so so lucky to have gotten through this,’ she remarked as she thanked her doctors then her fans who prayed for her. ‘It really put a new perspective on some health things for me… on the mend!’
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that affects the large intestine (colon), according to the Mayo Clinic. The exact cause of UC is unknown, but it is believed to be a combination of genetic, environmental, and immune factors.
She said on Wednesday that she was out of the hospital and on the mend after her second visit there this month. Wilson added the new medicine she received really helped. ‘I am finally over this hump while recovering from my lap band surgery,’ she shared in her Instagram video.
Carnie in 1989 co-founded the pop music trio Wilson Phillips with her younger sister Wendy as well as pal Chynna Phillips.
The beauty has been open about her weight challenges. Wilson weighed more than 300lbs before undergoing gastric bypass surgery in 1999.
In 2012, she turned to surgery again – this time lapband surgery – after gaining back most of the weight.

In 2017 she said she had to undergo another surgery to removed her botched implants which have since ruptured.
In April 2024 she shared an update on her health to Instagram. The singer said that she has lost 40lbs by excluding certain foods from her diet, and she feels better than ever these days.
‘This is 40 pounds down. I feel really different. I need to start exercising more to make the scale start to move again, but I’m so proud and pumped,’ shared Wilson.
‘Knowing that I did this PURELY through diet – no gluten or sugar, no butter and keeping fats down too.
‘Lately I have indulged in cheese and nuts which have more fat. If I chose not to eat corn tortillas, nuts and cheese – there’s no way I could keep this up.’
‘I have totally adjusted my eating habits to satisfy my cravings but in a realistic way. And it’s a miracle.’

The Wilson Philips singer appeared on CBS’ The Talk where she discussed her ‘scary’ surgery.
But she had to go through with it. ‘I’m scared to say what I’m about to say,’ she began while pausing to talk about donuts, which she says is her comfort food.
She continued: ‘I have to have a surgery. 16 years ago I lost a bunch of weight and I had a breast lift and an augmentation and the implants have ruptured now.’
She says she debated sharing the news with people, but decided its such a common thing to have happen to women, she felt compelled.
‘I have to go have them taken out and face this reconstruction, which is really scary… I wasn’t sure if I was going to share it, but I am sharing it … it’s important.’
The singer reveals she might not have made the same decision today. ‘Today I wouldn’t have put them in. I’m different now; I have different priorities. This is scary, and I’m going to face this and I’m going to get over it,’ she shared.
And the singer revealed her mom is helping her get through it. ‘My mom said to me, “Carnie, this is going to be a little hurdle, a little bump, and it’ll all be in the past soon.”
